Biral BTD-300 is a professional, stand-alone lightning detector that sets a new standard for reliability and warning time. Using unique quasi-static measurement technology, the sensor detects all forms of electrical discharges (cloud-to-ground, cloud-to-cloud and hidden discharges inside clouds). The great advantage of the BTD-300 is its ability to sense the electrostatic charge in the atmosphere, which gives the user an early warning that a thunderstorm is forming directly above their own position.

The system is designed to be completely immune to radio frequency interference (RFI), which is often a problem for simpler detectors in industrial environments. With a range of up to 83 km, the BTD-300 provides enough time to evacuate personnel, secure sensitive processes or pause blasting operations. The robust design with no moving parts means it requires minimal maintenance, even in the harshest environments.
