Vaisala TSS928 is an advanced single-point sensor designed to provide early warning of approaching thunderstorms. Unlike simpler systems that only respond to radio waves from lightning strikes, the TSS928 monitors the local electric field in the atmosphere. This means that the system can warn of the risk of lightning strikes directly above the facility even before the first discharge has occurred.

The sensor identifies and categorizes lightning into three categories: cloud-to-ground, cloud-to-cloud and intracloud discharges. This provides a complete picture of the intensity and direction of the storm. Built to eliminate false alarms, the TSS928 is optimized for integration into control rooms at airports, oil depots or during blasting operations in mines. With the TSS928, you get a robust safety solution that minimizes downtime and maximizes personnel safety in difficult weather conditions.

Mounting: Installed on a mast or roof (at least 3 meters above surrounding obstacles).

System integration: Can be connected directly to Vaisala ALARM software or third-party SCADA systems.
